2024 Hero World Challenge: Round 1 tee times, pairings and featured groups
The awesome Albany course in the beautiful Bahamas takes center stage this weekend with world number one Scottie Scheffler headlining.
The 2024 Hero World Challenge is shaping up to be a must-watch event, drawing some of the biggest names in golf to the picturesque Albany course in the Bahamas. Scheduled for December 5-8, the tournament isn’t just about sun, sand, and swing; it’s also a showcase of elite talent, featuring players who’ve dominated leaderboards all year.
Who is playing in the 2024 Hero World Challenge?
Scottie Scheffler, the reigning World No. 1 and the tournament’s defending champion, is headlining this year’s event. He’s not alone, though. The field includes six major champions, eight fresh faces, and representatives from eight different countries, all competing in an intimate 20-player format.
The Hero World Challenge prides itself on quality over quantity, and the 2024 roster proves it. Eight members of the victorious U.S. Presidents Cup team - including Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala – will tee it up, alongside international stars like Jason Day, Sungjae Im, and Tom Kim. This mix of seasoned champions and rising stars guarantees four days of compelling golf.
And speaking of fresh faces, this year’s tournament welcomes eight debutants, including Ludvig Åberg, the Swedish phenom currently ranked No. 5, and Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre. These newcomers add intrigue, especially when you consider the international flavor they bring to the mix.
What about those six major champions? Well, Scheffler leads the pack as a two-time Masters winner (2022 and 2024). Joining him are Wyndham Clark (2023 U.S. Open), Brian Harman (2023 Open Championship), Justin Thomas (2017 and 2022 PGA Championships), Jason Day (2015 PGA Championship), and Keegan Bradley (2011 PGA Championship).
