2024 John Deere Classic: Round 3 Saturday tee times, groupings and pairings
CT Pan and Aaron Rai are neck and neck at the top of the John Deere Classic leaderboard, having surged past early frontrunner Hayden Springer in Illinois.
Taiwan’s CT Pan and England’s Aaron Rai are tied for the lead heading into round three of the 2024 John Deere Classic, after both registered eight-under rounds of 63 on Friday. Pan and Rai go into the weekend on 14-under, with England’s Harry Hall one stroke behind in Silvis, Illinois.
Can Rai go one better than at the Rocket Mortgage?
Ranked 59 in the world, Rai is chasing his first ever PGA Tour win, having come second to Australia’s Cam Davis at last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The US’s Hayden Springer had been the frontrunner after day one at the John Deere Classic, having scored 59 to become only the 14th player in PGA Tour history to post a sub-60 round. However, he slipped to joint-fourth in Friday when he could only manage an even-par 71. Springer is joined on 12-under by five players: compatriots Eric Cole, Davis Thompson, Denny McCarthy and Luke Clanton, and South Korea’s Sungjae Im.
The John Deere Classic’s defending champion, Austria’s Sepp Straka, is down in joint-59th after just making the 5-under cut. Two-time tournament winner Jordan Spieth is one shot better off than Straka, and is currently in a tie for 47th place.
Who missed the cut at the John Deere Classic?
Nick Dunlap, Harry Higgs, Kevin Kisner, Maverick McNealy, Peter Malnati and Davis Riley are among the notable players who won’t be involved this weekend, having failed to stay above the cut line in the opening two rounds.
