There is a new leader heading into the final round of the 2024 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Illinois after Davis Thompson fired a nine-under par 62 on Saturday to displace CT Pan and Aaron Rai from the top of standings.

Rai is now two shots back despite a third-round 66, and is tied with Eric Cole, who went two better on Saturday. Hayden Springer, who joined the 59 club in the opening round on Thursday, and Pan, who lost ground after a 68 in round three, are two shots further back.

2024 John Deere Classic leaderboard after round 3

-21: Davis Thompson

-19: Eric Cole, Aaron Rai

-17: Hayden Springer; CT Pan

-16: JJ Spaun, Michael Thorbjornsen, Luke Clanton (a)

-15: Carson Young, Sami Valimaki, Rico Hoey

Final round of 2024 John Deere Classic affected by weather

Thompson, Cole and Rai are all looking for their first ever victories on the PGA Tour ahead of round four, which has already been affected by a schedule change.

Because of the threat of inclement weather, the remaining players will play in three-balls rather than the standard two-balls, with split tees also in effect. That will allow the final round to finish significantly more quickly than would normally be the case.
