A nearly $9 million prize purse is on the line in La Quinta this week, as the 2025 PGA Tour heads to California for The Desert Classic - an event which, for sponsorship reasons, is currently known as The American Express tournament.
Who is the favorite in The American Express 2025?
South Korea’s Sungjae Im and the US’s Justin Thomas go into The American Express as the bookmakers’ frontrunners for victory. Per Oddschecker, the pair both have moneyline odds of +1200. The highest-ranked player in the field, the world No. 7 Wyndham Clark, is chiefly priced at +3000.
Who won The American Express last year?
Nick Dunlap will be the defending champion at the tournament, held across three courses at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club. In 2024, the American became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour tournament since 1991, finishing one shot ahead of South Africa’s Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
