The United States’ Taylor Fritz will face world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Australian Open, after beating Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach the tournament’s last eight for the first time in his career.

Fritz, ranked 12th in the world, beat Tsitsipas 7-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the fourth round on Sunday - his first ever win over a top-10 opponent at a grand slam event.

Defending champion Djokovic, who is chasing a record-extending 11th men’s singles title at Melbourne Park, breezed in the quarter-finals with an emphatic straight-sets triumph over France’s Adrian Mannarino.

The Serb didn’t drop a game until the third set, prevailing 6-0, 6-0, 6-3.

What is Fritz’s head-to-head record against Djokovic?

In eight previous meetings with Djokovic, Fritz is yet to win a match.

The 26-year-old’s 0-8 record against the 24-time grand slam winner includes a five-set defeat in the Australian Open third round in 2021.

Fritz and Djokovic last met in the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2023, with ‘Nole’ winning in straight sets on his way to securing the singles title at Flushing Meadows for the fourth time.
