Canelo vs Bivol rematch could be in jeopardy

Due to Artur Beterbiev’s triumph over Anthony Yarde, the unified light-heavyweight champion could be Dmitry Bivol’s next opponent, and not Canelo Alvarez.

Saúl Álvarez has always expressed that he wants a rematch against Dmitri Bivol since the Russian defeated him in May last year. However, Canelo’s desired second fight could be placed on the back burner for the moment.

Beterbiev wants a bout with Bivol

The boxer from Kyrgyzstan is now likely to face another challenger in Artur Beterbiev, who defeated Anthony Yarde to successfully defend all three of his light heavyweight belts.

Berterbiev beat Yarde at Wembley Arena in eight rounds by technical knockout. After the match, the Russian boxer expressed his desire to face Bivol with the goal of becoming the absolute 175-pound world champion.

I want the fight with Bivol more than anything right now. Right now it means everything to me, it’s a great fight,” he said after his bout with Yarde.

With his latest victory, Beterbiev increased his record to 19 professional boxing fights with the same number of victories by knockout. His unblemished record makes him a challenging opponent.

Canelo’s belt collection

Saúl Álvarez still has the four super middleweight division championships in his possession, which he can offer Bivol to convince him to agree to a rematch. The Kyrgyz fighter reportedly wishes to continue increasing his collection of belts.
