Carlos Alcaraz gets the revenge he wanted
The 20-year-old Spaniard says he is “happy” with his level of play, and believes he is “improving” before facing Purcell.

After finishing a match against Tommy Paul in Cincinnati that began shortly after 2:30 p.m. local time and ended around 8:06 p.m., extended due to rain that caused four stoppages, Carlos Alcaraz was interviewed by the ATP.

Paul revenge for Alcaraz in thriller
“It was a very difficult match, very close before the rain,” said the 20-year-old from Murcia.
“I think I’ve done very well, I’ve taken the revenge I wanted since I lost in Toronto,” he said, recalling that game just last week against the American. “I’m happy with the level, I think I’m improving and I’m happy to be in the quarterfinals,” he added.

Purcell next for Alcaraz
On Friday he faces Australian Max Purcell in the quarterfinals, with whom he has yet to meet on a tour.
“He is playing very well, he has beaten top players and I have to play at my best level.
“I don’t know him very well, so I have to watch videos of his last games and be ready for the quarterfinals. It won’t be easy,” he acknowledged.
