Charles Schwab Challenge Round 3 Saturday tee times and pairings
The Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, is the setting for the Charles Schwab Challenge on the 2024 PGA Tour.
The PGA Tour has made its fourth and final stop in Texas this season for the Charles Schwab Challenge, which began on Thursday at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth with the action running through to Sunday’s final round. Following his arrest and subsequent release at last week’s PGA Championship, many eyes were on current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, one of the obvious favourites competing for the overall purse of $9.1 million, with the winner set to pocket $1.638 million. He had a tough opening day but brought himself back into contention after a strong second-round performance.
Scheffler bounces back
Scheffler goes into the weekend seven shots off the lead after following up a 2-over par 72 with a 5-under 65, leaving him on 3-under for the tournament. First-round leader Charley Hoffman, who hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2016, had a Friday to forget, carding a 5-over 75 to tumble back down the leaderboard.
Riley leads Charles Schwab Challenge after Day 2
The new man at the top is Davis Riley, who overcame a 70-minute weather delay to post a bogey-free, 6-under 64, the joint best round of the day. The 27-year-old, 10-under after his opening two rounds, is searching for his first solo victory on tour, with his only previous triumph coming alongside Nick Hardy in the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a team event.
Riley leads by two strokes from Hayden Buckley and Pierceson Coody, who are both looking for their maiden PGA Tour wins.
Like Scheffler, fellow major champions Keegan Bradley (6-under), Brian Harman (5-under), Webb Simpson (4-under), Adam Scott, Collin Morikawa (both 3-under) and Jordan Spieth (2-under) will be hoping strong showings over the weekend can put them in with a chance of glory come Sunday afternoon.
Six-time PGA Tour winner Tony Finau is also well-placed on 5-under, although he lost ground on the field after following up his opening 4-under 66 with a 1-under 69.
