Crawford now open to a fight vs Canelo: “That would be cool”

‘Bud’, who recently dismantled Errol Spence Jr., seems open to a fight with Canelo after initially dismissing that possibility.

Sometimes, situations may dramatically change in world sports, and boxing is no exception.

While some fights seem that will never happen due to economic differences, a high-risk factor for any of the contenders’ careers, or too much weight difference, sometimes things change dramatically, and the bouts that fans want to see finally end up taking place.

One of those examples, and the most recent one, was the one involving Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. The fight was in the making over the last few years but never happened, so it looked like a chimera to see both boxers inside the ring. However, when least expected, they agreed to finally face each other.

Crawford himself ruled out some days ago the possibility of a fight against Saúl Álvarez, saying the Mexican is just too big for him. Now, though, things seem to have changed for Bud.

Crawford now open to fighting Canelo

After defeating Spence Jr., Crawford was asked if he would be interested in a fight against Canelo, who is the undisputed super middleweight champion. The Omaha native’s answer was very clear.

No not at all. As I said before, I’ve had that question many times before. I stated it then and I’ll state it now. Canelo is two, three, or even four weight classes above me, depending on which fight you’re talking about. So, to be honest, Canelo doesn’t really interest me because of the size factor”, he said.

Now, Crawford seems to have changed his mind about the idea of sharing the ring with Álvarez, especially if a 160 lbs limit is taken into consideration.

“You know, we can do something at catchweight. Probably like 160 or something, 158. That’d be cool”m he said to The Breakfast Club.

Crawford, who became the only man to ever hold all four world titles in two weight classes (light welterweight and welterweight), wants to fight Jermell Charlo next.
