CrossFit Games 2022 Day 2: results and leaderboard
Day 2 of the 2022 CrossFit Games went more smoothly than problematic Day 1, where faulty officiating and inclement weather cast clouds on the competition.
Thursday was supposed to be a rest day for the athletes of the 2022 CrossFit Games, but rainy weather on Day 1 pushed back Event 2 to the second day of the contest at Madison, Wisconsin.
The event called “Shuttle to Overhead” was composed of three rounds of a combination of progressively longer shuttle runs and maximum repetitions of the jerk.
In each round, the competitors did the run then performed as many shoulder-to-overhead jerks as possible in the time allotted- two minutes for the first round, three minutes for the second round, and four minutes for the third round. Each division had to go through two heats.
Five-time champion Tia-Clair Toomey was back in fine form, and climbed up the rankings to third at the end of the day, quite a leap from her eighth place finish on Day 1.
Mallory O’Brien retained her place at the top of the leaderboard of the women’s division, while Ricky Garard also kept the number one spot over at the men’s, still one step ahead of defending champion Justin Medeiros.
