CrossFit Games 2024 Day 3: results and leaderboard

The 2024 CrossFit Games being stage in Fort Worth (Texas) conclude tomorrow after four days of action.

This year the CrossFit Games are being staged in Fort Worth, Texas after being staged for several years in Madison, Wisconsin as the athletes face 12 difficult events spread over four days but also have to battle dry weather and high temperatures with conditions leading to the organization to bring more tests inside the stadium.

This year’s Games were hit with tragedy as it was confirmed that an athlete died at the 2024 Games, hours after Serbian Lazar Dukic went missing in the water in the first event of the 2024 CrossFit Games at Marine Creek Lake, near Fort Worth in Texas.

Games proceed despite tragedy

The remainder of the events scheduled for Thursday were immediately suspended, but the CrossFit Games’ organisers later confirmed that the Games would resume on Friday.

statement released late on Thursday paid tribute to “one of our sport’s most talented competitors”, describing Dukic as “fiercely competitive, incurably joyful and uncommonly kind”. Explaining the decision to continue with the 2024 Games, the communiqué said: “The best way to grieve is together.”

Day 3 leaderboard

After two days of events, with Thursday’s opening day being cancelled, American James Sprague tops the men’s leaderboard along with Canadian Brent Fikowski with both men on 486 points. The 22-year-old won the Chad routine and posted solid results in the other disciplines with Fikowski coming second in the Lake Day test.

30-year-old Australian Tia-Clair Toomey leads the way in the women’s event with 473 points and holds a 21 point advantage over second placed Emily Rolfe of Canada.

Toomey was first in three of Friday’s five events and barring a calamitous final day, should be a solid bet to win the women’s event.

The final day action resumes on Sunday morning in Fort Worth.
