Davis and Benn start a ‘fight’ on social media and could face off in April
Both fighters engaged in a war of words on X after Benn defeated Dobson via unanimous decision last Saturday.
Gervonta Davis wants to get back into the ring as soon as possible and that wish could soon be granted. Tank and Conor Benn started trading words on social media after the Englishman defeated Peter Dobson via unanimous decision on Saturday at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Davis has been inactive since last April, when he defeated rising star Ryan Garcia by TKO in the seventh round. After that, he has had quite a few legal issues that haven’t allowed him to stay active and keep fighting.
The Baltimore native wants to take on Benn, and The Destroyer says he’s up for the challenge if the fight can be made in the upcoming months. Both fighters are young and undefeated and if they sit to negotiate and both sides agree on terms and conditions, the bout could take place in April.
The Davis-Benn ‘fight’ on social media
Davis initiated the ‘war of words’ after Benn mentioned on X the fighters he would be interested in facing after beating Dobson. Cris Eubank Jr, Errol Spence Jr., Kell Brook, Devin Haney, and Mario Barrios were the names he referred to, something that Davis didn’t seem to like.
“No, funny, how you looked last night. Give me three weeks and a weekend in Turks, and your s** is grass. You hear me!”, Tank said in response.
“Oh, here he is, the woman beating munchkin from OZ! Let’s do it next?”, Benn replied.
From then on both men exchanged posts daring the other one to accept the challenge and try to make the fight happen.
Gervonta’s message on X wasn’t a casual thing. The undefeated boxer is looking to return to the ring soon, and April seems to be the date he wants to step into the ring again.
A Davis vs Benn fight would be an exciting one, as the American has lots of power in his hands and great boxing IQ, while Benn’s aggressivity would even make their potential clash a very tasty one.
