Everything is ready for this Saturday’s fight between Devin Haney, who is defending his lightweight belts, and Ryan García.

In the buildup to this hugely anticipated fight, Mexican-American García has been a topic of conversation due to his controversial posts on social media and now Haney has hit back. (undercard will start at around 11.30 a.m. ET / 8.30 a.m. PT.).

Haney took it upon himself to heat up the fight, publicly criticising his upcoming opponent, pointing out that he is of a lower category than him as well as guaranteeing that he will prove it on Saturday after knocking him out in the Brooklyn bout.

‘The world’s going to see that I’m levels above this dude’

“[Listen, is Ryan’s back gonna touch that canvas on 4/20?] I guarantee, wallahi, I promise you. I promise you I’m knocking Ryan out good. They’re going to see, the world’s going to see that I’m levels above this dude. Like I said, he’s a C-level fighter. I’m a A+ fighter and I’mma show it. Insha’Allah.”

García, for his part, argues that he is underestimated because he is hated, and said that Haney will eat his words on Saturday when he comes out with the victory and wins his first belt as world champion.

“I think, in my opinion, people overestimate his boxing ability. They hate me because I don’t shut my mouth and keep talking, but I’m going to keep doing it no matter what. At the end of the day, they just hate me,” he said recently at a press conference about Haney.

García considers himself to be one of the faces of boxing in this day and age and even said in an interview with DAZN that he has reached levels of popularity that not even his compatriot Canelo Álvarez has reached on social media. You can decide that for yourself.

The ringwalks for the main event between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia are scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT, although these timings could change due to the length of the undercard bouts. The undercard will start at around 11.30 a.m. ET / 8.30 a.m. PT.
