Djokovic will play at the Hurlingham Tennis Classic ahead of Wimbledon

The Serb, who won the French Open this month, has changed his mind and will feature in the exhibition event before the start of the third major of the season.

Update:
The Serb, who won the French Open this month, has changed his mind and will feature in the exhibition event before the start of the third major of the season.

It wasn’t in his initial plans, but his agenda has now changed. Novak Djokovic and his team have decided that the 23-time Grand Slam tournament winner will participate in the Hurlingham Tennis Classic to get some competition rhythm before the start of Wimbledon.

The event, which will take place from 27 June to 1 July, gives the chance to players to get a last taste of grass before Wimbledon. In the case of the current world No.1, it will be the only chance he will have to play against another top opponent before starting his challenge of winning Wimbledon for a fifth consecutive time.

After becoming the tennis player with the most major titles won ever in the men’s category, Nole wants to keep making history by winning the Slam; in other words, conquering Wimbledon and the US Open.

Some big names will be present too

Although Djokovic has already overtaken Nadal in the Grand Slam tournaments race, he wants more. After missing a few important meetings due to his Covid-19 vaccination status, the Serb wants to take full advantage of the fact that restrictions seem to have disappeared for good and that it seems that Nadal won’t compete anytime soon.

At the Hurlingham tournament, he will be able to get in touch with the grass again, one of his favorite surfaces, and get familiar with the new conditions.

He will be joined by other top players like Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie, Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, Alexander Zverev, Karen Khachanov, and Frances Tiafoe.
