Who is Tyson Fury’s trainer: SugarHill Steward?
The man responsible for keeping Tyson’s head in the fight over the years is SugarHill Steward. The American trainer has been with Fury since 2019 and has been him to winning the WBC and The Ring titles, beating Deontay Wilder in their first fight together in February 2020, then repeating it in October of the following year. The demolition of Whyte, though, was their first in the UK.
Steward, known as Javan ‘Sugar’ Hill until 2019 with the name change a nod to his uncle who passed away in 2012. Emanuel Steward was an International Boxing Hall of Fame trainer, who worked out of the iconic Kronk Gym, which is where SugarHill and Fury met in 2010. He had previously worked as a chef and a police officer before following his uncle into training boxers full time. With Tyson he has really bonded and now the question is if Fury will keep the winning partnership going.
