Sahith Theegala (25) secured his first PGA Tour victory by winning the 2023 Fortinet Championship at Silverado Resort’s North Course on Sunday.

On Sunday, Sahith Theegala, a 25-year-old golfer, won his first PGA Tour title at the 2023 Fortinet Championship. The tournament was held at the North Course of the Silverado Resort in Napa, California. He finished the 72-hole stroke-play championship with a score of 21 under, beating his competitors, rookie S.H. Kim and Cam Davis, to claim the winner’s share of $1,512,000 from the $8,400,000 prize purse.

Theegala’s victory earned him 31.3 Official World Golf Ranking points, which helped him improve his position in the world rankings. He began the tournament by sinking three birdies in the first five holes and made four more, but he also had three bogeys. This was Theegala’s first-ever win on the circuit after 74 starts.

Theegala emerged as the champion with a two-shot lead over S.H. Kim, finishing with a score of 21-under 267. He secured his victory with a bogey on the final hole to finish off with a score of 68. Cam Davis finished in third place with a birdie on the last hole, ending with a score of 17 under, while Eric Cole finished in fourth place.

2023 Fortinet Championship prize money

The fall portion of the 2023 PGA Tour schedule began with the Fortinet Championship from the Silverado Resort in Napa, California. Although big names like defending champion Max Homa and Justin Thomas were in the field, it wasn’t a signature event; eight are limited-field tournaments with increased prize money and FedExCup points (700 points to the winner).

The tournament winner, Sahith Theegala, still received a handsome prize of $1,512,000. The runner-up, S.H. Kim, had to settle for $915,600 but still gave an impressive performance. Cam Davis secured the third position and took home a prize of $579,600. Eric Cole, who finished fourth, earned a well-deserved reward of $411,600. Justin Thomas, a part of the Ryder Cup team, finished fifth but still managed to grab a respectable prize of $344,400.
