A dramatic finale to the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship ensued at St. Andrews with England’s Tyrrell Hatton winning out.
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is the longest-running competition on the PGA European Tour and this year saw big names like Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka in action at the iconic St. Andrews course in Scotland with the tournament played across three iconic links golf courses.
The competition is divided into two parts, a professional and an amateur tournament. The amateur version - the Team Championship - sees the 168 professionals paired with 168 amateurs, typically well-known celebrities which this year included the likes of former Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale, musician Huey Lewis and actor Bill Murray.
In a dramatic final day of action at the old course at St. Andrews, it was a two way tussle between Friday night joint leader Nicolas Colsaerts and Saturday’s overnight leader Tyrrell Hatton.
In the end the English player prevailed winning the tournament on the final hole on -23 for the competition, one stroke ahead of the Belgian to secure this record third Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title.
England’s Tommy Fleetwood came third with a -21 for the tournament with South Africa’s Robin Williams, Spain’s David Puig and Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen all tied in fourth place on -19.
2024 Prize Money
The total prize pot for 2024 is worth $5 million, with $4.8 million going to the professional tournament. The remaining $200,000 prize money is handed out to the winners of the Team Championship, but only the professional golfers will take home the cash.
Hatton as winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will receive a first prize of $816,000. Behind that, the second prize is $528,000 which will be picked up by Colsaerts with Tommy Fleetwood bagging the third prize of $302,400.
