Update:
The FedEx St. Jude Championship starts Thursday and only the top 70 players on the FedEx Cup rankings are invited to the event.

Golf lovers will be able to enjoy more PGA Tour action, as a three-tournament postseason, the 2023 FedEx Cup Playoffs, will take place in the following weeks.

The playoffs start at the 70-player FedEx St. Jude Championship, which takes place at TPC Southwind, Memphis, followed by the 50-player BMW Championship at Olympia Fields Country Club, Chicago. The 30 players remaining will head to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the Tour Championship.

The FedEx St. Jude Championship, founded in 1967, became the first tournament in the playoffs system for the FedEx Cup in 2007. It will be hosted at TPC Southwind for the second year in a row.

How much does the winner get?

The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will play in the St. Jude Championship.

Scottie Scheffler is seen as the main favorite to emerge victorious, followed by Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, while the current champion, Will Zalatoris, won’t be able to take part in the event due to back surgery earlier in the year.

Scheffler and Rahm rank No. 1 and No. 2 on the all-time single-season money list at $19.1 million and $16.3 million. This will be a good chance for both of them to add more earnings to their pockets.

Since only 70 golfers will compete in the St. Jude Championship, as opposed to 125 in prior years, every player will get a piece of the purse.

The champion will get the 18% winner’s share, valued at $3.6 million, while the last-place player will take home $40,000.
