How much prize money does the winner get at the 2023 Tour Championship?
The 2022-23 PGA Tour campaign will come to a close at the Tour Championship from East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
Who will be the FedEx champion this year? The playoffs started at the 70-player FedEx St. Jude Championship, at TPC Southwind, Memphis, followed by the 50-player BMW Championship at Olympia Fields Country Club, Chicago.
Now the 30 players remaining will compete at the Tour Championship, at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, which is the tour’s final event of the calendar and a culmination of the FedExCup Playoffs.
The Tour Championship format uses a strokes-based system to reward them for their performances in prior events. For example, the player with the most FedEx Cup points leading into the tournament starts at 10 under par. The winner will also be the FedEx Cup champion.
How much does the 2023 Tour Championship winner make?
Players not only have the chance to finish the PGA season with a good result and win a trophy, but they also can make good amounts of money if they have good performances during the FedEx playoffs and, obviously, in the Tour Championship.
Viktor Hovland won last weekend’s BMW Championship, while Lucas Glover emerged victorious in the two previous tournaments. However, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to become the FedEx champion after earning the most FedExCup points this term. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy will be looking to win the FedEx Cup title for a fourth time.
There will be a lot at stake in Atlanta, as 30 players will be fighting for a big reward, in case they end up winning the event. The champion will take home $18 million.
There will be no shame in finishing second or third either, as they will be paid $6,500,000 and $5,000,000, respectively, while the golfer who gets the last position will be rewarded with $500,000.
