Boxing fans around the world are on edge as uncertainty grows around the long‑anticipated rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao — a fight many hoped would finally deliver the showdown their first meeting didn’t. Even if it’s arriving years late, the bout was billed as the revenge chapter fans have been waiting for.

Originally, the fight was expected to take place September 19 at Sphere in Las Vegas, with Netflix set to stream the event. But that plan is now unraveling.

Rematch in limbo

The entire event was thrown into doubt a couple of weeks ago when Mayweather suggested the fight would be an exhibition, not a sanctioned professional bout as initially announced. Pacquiao’s camp immediately pushed back, insisting the fight is happening — and accusing Mayweather of failing to meet key contractual obligations.

Sphere is no longer the venue

Multiple reports now indicate the fight is still on, but Sphere is officially off the table. The reason? The legendary rock band The Eagles has already locked in the September 19 date as part of their residency, leaving no room for the fight.

A new venue has not yet been confirmed.

Mayweather and Pacquiao on separate paths

Mayweather has already announced two exhibition bouts of his own — one against Mike Tyson and another against Greek kickboxing star Mike Zambidis.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, has stepped back into the ring twice recently, signaling his own return to action.

Their first fight, back in 2015, was a global phenomenon. Mayweather won by unanimous decision, and the event shattered records with 4.6 million pay‑per‑view buys, making it one of the most-watched boxing matches in history.
