Is Nick Kyrgios back? Will he play at the US Open?

The Australian talent has been out of the courts for a long time due to injury but he seems ready to play again.

After spending many months out of action, he’s finally back. Nick Kyrgios, one of the most talented and problematic players in the ATP Tour, seems ready to return to the tennis courts.

The former Wimbledon runner-up hasn’t played any competitive game since June 2023 after undergoing wrist and knee surgeries.

After his long layoff, many believed the Australian star would never play again, but the 29-year-old has been resilient and motivated enough to emerge victorious in his battle against his fitness problems.

The Canberra native made a huge impact in the sport in 2014, when he eliminated Rafa Nadal in Wimbledon, but he hasn’t been able to be regular enough during his career despite his enormous talent.

When will Kyrgios play again? Will he compete at the US Open?

Watching Kyrgios play is probably something unique in the tennis world and luckily, fans will be able to see him in action again this week.

The Enfant Terrible of tennis will return in a mixed doubles exhibition with Naomi Osaka in ‘Mixed Madness’ as part of Fan Week at the US Open.

He will also feature in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, another exhibition tournament in New York. Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Andrey Rublev will also play in the event. However, he won’t compete at the US Open.

“Hey guys, it’s NK here. I just want to inform everyone that keeps up with the UTS or any tennis fan out there that I will be competing on the 22nd of August at the Forest Hill Stadium in New York” he said on social media.

“I know it’s been a long time but my body is finally ready to get back out there and have some fun. I will see if I’m still able to go up against some of the best players in the world starting off with my old rival Casper Ruud. Casper, please take it easy on me. I can’t wait to be out there again competing in front of all the amazing fans and hopefully I can still bring some life to the sport”, he added.

Kyrgios will use those exhibition matches to get some form back after being inactive for a long period and get to his best level in the upcoming months.
