Legendary WNBA player Sue Bird has dribbled her last in the league, after the Las Vegas Aces eliminated the Seattle Storm from the playoffs.

The Aces qualified for the WNBA playoffs finals, while the Connecticut Sun beat the Chicago Sky and forced the decisive fifth game of the series.

In an interview with ESPN after the game, Bird said she was sad that her time as a WNBA player was over.

“Obviously, so thankful for 20 years here. I’m going to miss it so much. I’m not going anywhere. But I’m going to miss it,” she said.

Fans showed their appreciation to the legend, chanting “Thank you Sue!” in the Seattle stadium.

The Aces, coached by Becky Hammon, triumphed 97-92 at the Storm arena and claimed their third consecutive victory after starting the series with a loss.

They were led by Chelsea Gray’s 31 points, six rebounds and 10 assists and A’ja Wilson’s 23 points and 13 rebounds. Breanna Stewart’s monumental performance (42 points) and Jewell Lloyd’s 29 points were not enough to bring the Storm to victory.

Sue Bird’s last game stats

In the last game of her career, Bird scored eight points and delivered eight assists. The four-time NBA champion and five-time Olympic gold medalist announced in April that she would retire at the end of this season.

Sue Bird: GOAT of the WNBA

The point guard was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2002 WNBA draft and leads the league in all-time assists.

She spent all her time at the WNBA with the Storm, with whom she won four championships, earned five selections to the All-WNBA first team, and made a record 13 All-Star Game appearances.

The 41-year-old also had the satisfaction of being one of the co-captains in her last WNBA All-Star Game on July 10 in Chicago. In her career, Bird also competed in the Russian league with Dinamo Moscow, Spartak Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
