Jack Draper’s breakthrough year wasn’t meant to end this way

Jack Draper’s brilliant 2025 campaign has come to an abrupt end. The 23-year-old Brit will not play again this year due to the arm injury that already forced him out in the second round of the US Open singles draw, after he had briefly competed in mixed doubles alongside Jessica Pegula. Together they claimed a notable win over Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu.

What has Jack Draper said about his injury?

The announcement came through his social media:

“Hi guys an update from me...Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025. It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff. However l’ve been through this before..and I always come back stronger as l’m so motivated to fulfil my potential as a player.

Huge thanks to everyone who backs me to do well and supports me on my journey.

Can’t wait to get back out there and give it my all. See you soon!"

It brings to a close a year in which Draper reached new heights – conquering Indian Wells, reaching the final of the Madrid Masters, and climbing to world No 4 for the first time in his career.
