Jake Paul signs long-term PFL deal
Jake Paul announced that he has signed a multi-year contract with the PFL and has two fights in the pipeline for 2023.
Jake Paul announced on Thursday that he has signed a multi-year contract to compete in MMA in the Professional Fighters League (PFL). In a video posted on his Instagram page, Paul explained that he has offered Nate Diaz a two-fight deal, in a new division, known as Super Fight, with events broadcast on pay-per-view platforms. “First we box, then six months later, we fight MMA in the PFL Smart Cage… let’s make it happen”. As of the moment, no bouts have been finalised although the YouTube star is planning to fight twice this year in boxing and mixed martial arts.
Paul added that he has taken on a new, official role as Head of Fighter Advocacy in which he will continue his endeavours to increase pay for fighters through his social media channels. He has been involved in a running dispute over fighter pay and lack of health insurance for fighters with Dana White, calling the UFC president “a greedy scumbag”. Paul hopes conditions will improve for fighters with his new role. “This is about changing MMA, disrupting, innovating, and creating the next big league,” he said.
The 25-year-old is undefeated in his career as a professional boxer following his victory over the Brazilian veteran Anderson Silva in November which left his fight record at 6-0 including knockout victories over Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.
