On 30 July, it unexpectedly emerged that the fight between Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr was to be cancelled due to problems with the latter’s weight. Despite the financial losses that the decision represented, the YouTuber-turned-boxer has taken care of everything.

Paul to pay undercard boxers 50% of purse amount

In a statement released on Saturday, Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s promotion company, revealed that he is to pay the undercard boxers half their contracted purse amount for the fight night.

“The undercard boxers who were set to fight today as part of the Jake Paul & Amanda Serrano MVP event spent countless hours training both physically and mentally to prepare to fight on one of the biggest stages of their careers,” the statement said.

These undercard fighters abided by the terms of their contracts and Jake and MVP are extremely disappointed that the event cancellation adversely impacted them.”

Paul also noted that Amanda Serrano, who was due to fight for the unified lightweight titles held by Katie Taylor, will reschedule her bout. Ashton Sylve and Brandun Lee are also looking for new dates for their respective fights.

Jake Paul already looking for next opponent

As Paul mourns the cancellation of his sixth pro fight, there is speculation that he already has his next opponent in mind. MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani has reported that he has offered to take on fellow YouTuber KSI, following the cancellation of his clash with Alex Wassabi.

KSI - full name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji - has previously faced Paul’s brother, Logan. KSI debuted in amateur boxing with a draw against the 27-year-old in 2018, and a year later the pair met again, with the Briton winning out.
