Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight format: rounds, weigh-in, rules...

The American and the British fighters will square off in Riyadh in a fight where a loss could derail their boxing careers.

Update:
The American and the British fighters will square off in Riyadh in a fight where a loss could derail their boxing careers.

The Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury soap opera is about to end. Both fighters are scheduled to meet in a boxing ring this weekend in Saudi Arabia with quite a lot at stake.

Both fighters are undefeated so the one who loses this fight might see his career badly affected. For Paul, it would end his notorious hype, while if Fury is the one who tastes defeat, he would be reproached that a Fury member lost to someone who was a Disney actor and got into boxing four years ago.

His half-brother and heavyweight champion Tyson Fury said weeks ago that if Tommy loses, he should stay in Saudi Arabia and become Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal trainer. Probably the boxing great was not serious about those comments, but add extra pressure on Tommy’s shoulders.

Moreover, the WBC president, Mauricio Sulaiman, recently said that the winner would get a place in the rankings. Besides that, the boxing organization has created a new special WBC ‘Diriyah Champion’ belt for the winner.

The social media celebrity is the favorite going into the bout, as he has been the more active fighter and has defeated the better opposition, while Fury had to dig deep to earn a decision win over Daniel Bocianski last April.

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury: the rules

The fight is scheduled for eight three-minute rounds. It will be a cruiserweight clash, so both men have to make a 185lb limit.

The Cleveland native is used to fighting at this weight, as he was only 2lb heavier when he last fought MMA legend Anderson Silva.

Moreover, The Problem Child said there is a financial penalty in case either fighter is over the limit.

Meanwhile, Fury was 181.4lb back in November when he was scheduled to fight Paul Bamba, who withdrew amid a weight disagreement.

Paul recently confirmed that there is a rematch clause, but only for him, so in case Fury loses the bout, he won’t have the right to another shot at fighting the American.

Former UFC fighter Mike Perry is ready to step up against Jake Paul on late notice as a backup opponent.
