Update:

On Monday we learned that one of the true greats of the world of tennis, Martina Navratilova, had been diagnosed with both throat cancer and breast cancer.

What cancer does Navratilova have?

Navratilova, now aged 66, issued a brief statement.

“This double whammy is serious but still fixable. I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all have I got.”

This is the second time the 59-time Grand Slam title winner has had cancer. Back in 2010 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, then aged 53, and that was overcome. This time around the prognosis is also said to be good and she will begin treatment in New York next week.

The latest discovery began in November of last year when she had an enlarged lymph node tested during the WTA Finals in Fort Worth. Navratilova has been a constant voice for fairness and equality over the years since her retirement and often uses her global reach via social media.
