Conor McGregor was the big attraction this weekend in Marbella for the BKFC card as Franco Tenaglia was crowned lightweight champion by defeating Tony Soto in the main fight. During Saturday’s event the Irishman announced his intention to return to the UFC and plans to fight Dan “Hangman” Hooker in Saudi Arabia in February of 2025.

McGregor’s return to the UFC still remains a mystery and the Dubliner has been out of the Octagon for about three years following a nasty injury that left him breaking his tibia. He has flirted with returning to fighting with a series of planned comebacks getting postponed.

He was scheduled to return in June this year and was planned to fight Michael Chandler, with whom he was a coach on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), but he was forced to miss the event two weeks after breaking a toe. This injury, in addition to rumors that The Notorious was not focused, caused many fans to ever wonder if they would ever see the UFC biggest star back in the cage ever again.

Co-owner of BKFC

McGregor still has two fights left on his contract with the MMA company, and he intends to fulfil them and recently, the Irishman has acquired a share of Bare Knuckle (BKFC), the bare-knuckle boxing company, and has said that he would like to fight there, something that was confirmed by president David Feldman.

BKFC has become The Notorious’ main project and McGregor was centre stage at the BKFC event in Marbella with the fight a total sell-out.

It was at the Marbella Arena where McGregor dropped the bombshell and revealed that he would return to fight in February 2025, in Saudi Arabia with New Zealander Dan Hooker set to be his opponent. At present, the UFC has not commented on the matter, but the announcement over the weekend has UFC fans hyped with excitement as the start the countdown to see one of the most charismatic characters in the game fight again.
