‘The Notorious’ hasn’t entered the octagon since 2021 and he’s looking forward to doing it soon against Michael Chandler. What did he say?

The return to the octagon of the Irishman Conor McGregor seems closer. The last reports say the former simultaneous UFC champion could jump into the octagon at the end of this year to face Michael Chandler.

The last time both men were expected to meet was at UFC 303 last June, as they finally didn’t face each other in 2023.

McGregor withdrew before that date (June 29) due to a broken toe during his preparation for the clash, but after a long while, the Irishman seems ready for an upcoming return.

UFC and MMA fans were very disappointed due to the bad news, but the promotion’s president, Dana White, managed to replace the Irish superstar quickly.

What did UFC star McGregor say about his return fight vs. Chandler?

McGregor has been inactive since 2021 when he lost for the second time to Dustin Poirier in a fight where the European broke his leg.

Since then, The Notorious has tried to return to the cage in different attempts, but some problems with the USADA last year, the UFC silence, and some mishaps in the form of injuries have kept McGregor away from the octagon.

However, it looks like the Dublin native could finally fight again, as he recently expressed.

I talked to Dana today about our new date, all looking good”, McGregor told Chandler on X.

The new date for the fight would be September 14 at UFC 306, which will take place at The Sphere, in Las Vegas, but White hasn’t confirmed that information yet.

Meanwhile, Chandler has also been out of action for a while, as he has been waiting for McGregor to be ready to meet him in the cage. His last UFC fight happened in 2022, losing to Poirier via submission at UFC 281.
