Mike Tyson makes bold statement on Shakur Stevenson after his victory over William Zepeda
Boxing legend “Iron” Mike Tyson was sure to get his opinions across after watching Stevenson defend his title against Zepeda.

Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) successfully defended his WBC lightweight title against William Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) this past weekend. The 28-year-old remained unbeaten against one of the toughest opponents he’s faced – and a boxing legend made sure to applaud his performance at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion known as ‘Iron Mike’, took to social media to share his thoughts on Stevenson’s win over Zepeda. According to Tyson, the lightweight champ has never looked better.
“In my opinion, Shakur Stevenson looked the best he ever looked in his last fight” Tyson wrote on X. “Those masterful combinations and head movements. He’s still young and doing that and he looked superb. And everybody wants him to show people he can take a punch, but the art is hit and not get hit.
“That’s boxing and that was the best fighter he ever fought. The fight was tough and he beat him with no problem. In the middle of the ring, he was beautiful. I just don’t like when he gets on the ropes for too long.”

Who’s next for Shakur Stevenson?
The logical next step for Stevenson would be to go after title unification by facing one of the other lightweight champions. The dream fight? A clash with Gervonta Davis, who holds the WBA belt.
Raymond Muratalla currently holds the IBF title after Vasyl Lomachenko’s retirement. The WBO belt remains vacant after Keyshawn Davis failed to make weight, but Abdullah Mason and Sam Noakes are set to fight for it in November.
