Nelly Korda has won 4 LPGA tournaments in a row: Who has the record in women’s golf for most consecutive wins?

The world No. 1 became the first golfer since 2008 to emerge victorious in four consecutive events after winning at the T-Mobile Match Play on Sunday.

Update:
The world No. 1 became the first golfer since 2008 to emerge victorious in four consecutive events after winning at the T-Mobile Match Play on Sunday.

Scottie Scheffler is making an impact in the PGA Tour, as the American golfer won his second green jacket at the Masters last week and has been looking almost unbeatable since the start of the new season. However, he’s not alone in terms of dominance in tournaments.

His fellow countrywoman Nelly Korda, who’s also the world No. 1, is taking care of business and has been on another level over the last months. The Florida native made an impact again by winning the title at the T-Mobile Match Play, extending her winning streak to four consecutive events.

The 25-year-old won four of the first seven holes at Leopard Creek and sealed another win with three holes left to play in Vegas to claim her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Who has the record for most consecutive wins in women’s golf?

Korda is the first golfer to win four consecutive events from the start of the season since the Mexican Lorena Ochoa in 2008 accomplished that feat, and the second American player that had ever previously won four of their first five LPGA Tour starts to a campaign after 88-time LPGA Tour winner Kathy Whitworth did it in 1969.

The American could keep making history when she features in the Chevron Championship in The Woodlands, Texas, the first major championship of the season. Korda will try to win her first major since the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2021 and if he manages to make it, she will tie the record for most consecutive LPGA wins in women’s golf with a fifth consecutive victory. Only two women achieved it in the past: Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sorenstam (2004-05).

“In 2021 I went on a run, and then in 2022 and 2023 golf really humbled me. I think [in] sports, there are ups and downs. Every athlete goes through a roller coaster, and that is what makes the sport so great. You mature and grow so much and learn more about yourself. You never take these weeks for granted”, she said after being victorious in Vegas.

The Chevron Championship is getting a significant boost in prize money, as its total purse increased to $7.9 million. If Korda wins the tournament, she will take home $1,185,000.
