Photo of University of Georgia’s tennis team visit to the White House goes viral for all of the wrong reasons

The Georgia Bulldogs women’s tennis team was invited to the White House to celebrate, but the photo they took seems to celebrate something else.

Update:

For NCAA Collegiate National Champions Day on Tuesday, the Georgia Bulldogs women’s tennis team was invited to the White House to celebrate winning the national title last year, along with other NCAA champions. But a photo that was shared of the event tells a different story about who was being recognized.

Trump celebrates women’s tennis team by hiding them behind men

White House spokesperson Margo Martin shared a picture on social media of the team, but in the photo, the team is not the focus at all. Instead, Trump and a group of men stand front and center with the women standing behind them, their heads barely peeking through, hidden behind the men.

What an honor!

One look at that picture and you can see the problem right away. It would actually be comical if it wasn’t so close to the reality we currently live in.

The responses on social media were swift, with some noting a lack of surprise that the women were placed in the back, calling the men in the photo “misogynistic a**holes”.

The team won the national title last year by beating Texas A&M in dominant fashion to earn their third championship in program history. The postseason for this year will begin in May.
