Ryan Garcia in hot water

‘King Ry’ was due to fight in Japan but claimed that a hand injury forced him to miss the fight against Rukiya Anpo.

Estados Unidos Update:

Ryan Garcia continues to be plagued by controversy with the latest episode seeing the boxer being sued in the Central District Court of California by FANMIO because he apparently breached his contract to fight kickboxer Rukiya Anpo last year.

“FANMIO has officially filed a lawsuit against boxer Ryan Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions for alleged fraudulent inducement, tortious interference, and other serious claims,” the statement said. “Garcia had an exclusive agreement to fight Rukiya Anpo in an exhibition bout in Japan this past New Year’s Eve. Despite receiving payment, FANMIO was deceived into organizing an event Ryan never intended to participate in.”

King Ry stated that he couldn’t fight in Japan because of a hand injury. However, Garcia is scheduled to fight on May 2 in Times Square against Rolly Romero. This will be his first fight back after a one-year suspension for testing positive for Ostarine after knocking out Devin Haney.

In addition to the accusations against the boxer, the Miami Beach, Florida-based entertainment company, Golden Boy Promotions, is accused of actively working to sabotage the fight between García and Anpo. This is due to Oscar De La Hoya’s repeated attempts to prevent the fight from taking place.

FANMIO, famous for exhibition fights

FANMIO is a well-known company that has put together many exhibition boxing matches between big names in sports and celebrities with their highest profile event being the June 2021 exhibition fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Logan Paul. ‘Money’ joined the entertainment platform in 2020 and charged up to $1,200 for a video chat session with fans, to whom he offered collectible cards.

Another fight promoted by Solomon Engel’s company was Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal, which took place on July 6, 2024. Unfortunately, Diaz claims that Fanmio still owes him nine million dollars after having paid him one million upfront.
