The world of golf is gearing up for one of the sport’s most unusual and groundbreaking events: the Crypto.com Showdown, set to take place on December 17 at the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas.

Who is playing in Crypto.com Showdown?

This event will also mark the first televised matchup between golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Representing the PGA Tour will be Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, while Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will compete on behalf of the Saudi-backed circuit.

The tournament’s standout feature is the way the champions will receive their prize money. The minimum prize pool of $10 million will be distributed... in cryptocurrency! This is a novel approach, as prizes are rarely awarded in digital assets.

It has yet to be announced how the prize money will be divided among the pairs. However, Steve Kaliforwitz, Chief Marketing Officer of Crypto.com, confirmed that the golfers are not obligated to hold onto the cryptocurrency – they can sell or exchange it if they choose.
