Toni Nadal: “Rafa is going to play in Paris”

Rafa Nadal’s uncle and current Felix Auger-Aliassime’s coach said that his nephew will be ready to fight for his 15th Roland Garros title in the French capital.

Rafa Nadal has been out of the courts for three and a half months but the tennis great will be able to feature in his favorite tournament, the French Open.

The former world No.1 hasn’t played an official match since he suffered an injury against Mackenzie Mcdonald in the second round of the Australian Open in January.

Nadal was diagnosed with a psoas injury, which requires from six to eight weeks to recover from, but the pain in his back hasn’t completely disappeared, that’s why he preferred to skip the Madrid Open too.

The Manacor native, who previously missed Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and the Barcelona Open, is focused on getting to Paris in good form to try to win his 15th Roland Garros title and overtake Novak Djokovic in the race for the most major titles won ever in the men’s singles category.

Uncle Toni brings some good news

Tennis fans and attendants to the second Grand Slam tournament of the year received some good news, as Rafa’s uncle and former coach said the current Roland Garros champion will be ready in time to compete in Paris:

“He would like to be competing now, but there is little left for that to happen. He’s going to play in Paris, although how he trains in the coming weeks and what he can do in Rome will be important to measure his aspirations there.”

Despite being 36 and dealing with many injuries, Felix Auger-Aliassime’s coach said Nadal is not thinking about retiring anytime soon.

He is not thinking about retiring, he just wants to recover well and continue competing because he is passionate about this sport”, he explained.

Nadal might be facing one of the biggest challenges of his career by trying to win his 15th Roland Garros trophy, as he will have to deal with the possibility of getting injured again and, at some point in the tournament, facing Carlos Alcaraz, who has only lost two games this year.
