Tyson Fury’s record in his professional boxing career: Wins, losses, knockouts, titles
The WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF titles will be on the line as Fury faces Oleksandr Usyk to be undisputed heavyweight champion.
Tyson Fury will take on Oleksandr Usyk at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday (18 May) in what will be his second fight since he “retired” from boxing following his win over Dillian White at Wembley Stadium in London over two years ago.
Why did Tyson Fury retire from boxing in 2022?
The English boxer defeated his compatriot by technical knockout in April 2022, retaining his WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles and seemingly ending his career unbeaten, with 32 wins and a draw from 33 fights.
In his post-fight ring interview, Fury declared: “I fulfilled everything I’ve ever wanted to fulfil. I will retire as only the second heavyweight in history, after Rocky Marciano, to retire undefeated. I was unbeatable at this game”.
The then 33-year-old officially announced his retirement that August, relinquishing his The Ring title. But it didn’t take long for the boxing bug to come back to bite him.
What is Fury’s professional boxing record?
Two months later, it was revealed Fury would be stepping back between the ropes to defend his WBC title against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur in London, a fight he also won by TKO. It was following the bout that the Englishman challenged Usyk, who was in attendance, to a match-up.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was, however, Fury’s next opponent a year later in his only previous fight at Saturday’s venue in the Middle East. “The Gypsy King” kept his undefeated streak going but only via a split decision win, to the surprise of many.
That took Fury’s professional career record to 34 wins, 24 by knockout, and one draw.
Once more, Usyk was watching on but this time entered the ring after the bout and faced off with Fury to promote their upcoming fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
Which titles has Fury won in his career?
On Saturday, Fury and Usyk will unify the heavyweight division for the first time since four belts - WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF - have been active. On top of that, the Ukrainian’s Ring title, Fury’s Lineal championship and a special belt to mark the undisputed champion will also be at stake. That’s seven titles overall.
In the early stages of his career, the Manchester-born boxer held a number of championships at regional level, including the English, British, Commonwealth, Irish and European heavyweight titles.
His first major victory came against Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015, which saw him claim the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles for the first time. He has since added the WBC heavyweight championship to his list of honours, which may be further extended come Saturday.
