Weather forces major change in Ryder Cup schedule: updated times and where to watch the opening ceremony
Normally when Mother Nature turns nasty it delays our sporting enjoyment, but sometimes we need to plan ahead.

The 2025 Ryder Cup is almost here, and excitement is building around Bethpage Black on Long Island, New York. But before the first shot is struck, organisers have been forced to make a rare scheduling change because of the weather.
When is 2025 Ryder Cup opening ceremony?
Traditionally, the Ryder Cup opening ceremony takes place on Thursday evening, with both captains revealing their pairings for Friday’s morning matches. This year, however, thunderstorms are forecast to sweep through Bethpage on Thursday, so the curtain-raiser has been pushed forward a day.

An hour-long pre-show will now begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 24, followed by the full ceremony introducing Team USA and Team Europe. The big reveal of the Friday morning pairings will not come early, though, captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald (do you know his wife) will wait until 4:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, the original announcement time.
How to watch the ceremony
If you want to see the ceremony unfold, tune into NBC Sports’ Golf Channel which has a ‘Live from the Ryder Cup’ special starting at 8 a.m. Thursday’s build-up, whatever the weather, will continue there.
What to expect at Bethpage Black
The competition itself runs from Friday, September 26, through Sunday, September 28, with 28 points on offer across three days of foursomes, fourballs and singles. Team USA, led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, will look to reclaim the trophy after Europe’s victory in Rome two years ago. Donald’s squad, meanwhile, is chasing a first overseas win since 2012 in what promises to be one of the most hostile atmospheres in Ryder Cup history.

A limited number of tickets could still be available, although they’re not cheap. General grounds access under the Ryder Cup+ package starts at $965 for Sunday, while top-tier Samuel Ryder Club hospitality runs to more than $5,000 on Friday.
