The US is looking to win on European soil for the first time since 1993, over 30 years ago! The Americans have a strong team, again, but they always do. The Europeans seem to excel at match play golf and have a certain camaraderie that the Americans can’t find. Many US captains have tried to put together a winning team, but individualities have dominated and Team USA just hasn’t bonded the same way the European squad has.

Zack Johnson, the US Captain, is looking to find a way to hold on to the Ryder Cup and take it back to the US for two more years. He has assembled an excellent team on paper with veterans and newcomers alike who have proved their worth during the 2023 season. Will they be able to deal with the pressure in Rome playing against a solid European team? We will find out over the next three days.

Europe leads in total victories with 11 victories since 1979 when Europe joined forces with the UK. Team USA has won nine times. In more recent history, the US has only won three times since 1999. Steve Stricker’s team played well and won in 2021 and hopefully that momentum will continue for a solid Team USA.
