What did Jake Paul say about a Mayweather vs McGregor rematch?
Speaking to DAZN, Jake Paul said a fight between him and Conor McGregor is what “everyone really wants” to see, and wrote Floyd Mayweather off as “old”.
A week away from his fight against Hasim Rahman Jr, Jake Paul is already thinking about his next rival and could thwart plans for a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
Paul vs McGregor fight “the one that everyone wants”
Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Paul said a rematch between McGregor and Mayweather will only serve to generate money. He added that he would be a better opponent for the Irish fighter.
“Me vs. Conor is a way bigger fight,” Paul declared. “Floyd is old, and we’ve already seen that product.
“We know it’s just a money play if they fight. Me vs Conor is way more competitive, there’ll be way more shit talked, [it’ll be] way more entertaining, and it’s the one that everyone really wants.”
Logan Paul went distance against Mayweather last year
Paul’s brother, fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan, has already faced Mayweather, going all eight rounds in a June 2021 exhibition bout against the boxing legend. As it was a non-professional fight, no winner was declared.
Asked about a possible fight against either Dmitry Bivol or Artur Beterbiev, meanwhile, Jake Paul said: “I would rather fight Beterbiev,” he said.
While Bivol is the WBA champion in the light heavyweight division, Beterbiev holds the IBF, WBO and WBC titles at 175 pounds.
