YouTuber Logan Paul impressed boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr in the pair’s exhibition fight on Sunday, lasting all eight rounds of the bout in Miami.

Mayweather, 44, was in control throughout against a visibly tiring Paul, but the 26-year-old - whose 0-1 professional record pales in comparison to his opponent’s 50 wins out of 50 - survived until the last bell.

Mayweather praises "tough competitor" Paul

"He's a tough competitor, it was good action, had fun, I was surprised by him,” Mayweather said of Paul after the much-anticipated fight at the Hard Rock Stadium. “Good work."

Paul said: “I don't want anyone to tell me anything is impossible ever again. The fact that I'm in here with one of the best boxers of all times proves the odds can be beat.”

Fight rules: no judges, no official winner

According to the rules established by the Florida State Boxing Commission for Mayweather vs Paul, there were no judges for the match-up, meaning no winner could be determined if it went the distance.

Indeed, the rules stated that, while knockouts were allowed, there would be no official winner whatever happened in the ring. As an exhibition, the bout does not count towards either fighter's win-loss record.

Second exhibition fight of Mayweather's career

For Mayweather, who retired from professional boxing in 2017, this was his first fight since earning a technical knockout against Japanese kickboxer and mixed martial artist Tenshin Nasukawa in his only other exhibition clash to date, in December 2018.

Paul, who lost his only pro fight to fellow YouTuber KSI in 2019, was taking part in his first exhibition.
