Two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray has died at age 30.
“We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words,” PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan said. “The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.
“I reached out to Grayson’s parents to offer our deepest condolences, and during that conversation, they asked that we continue with tournament play,” Commissioner Monahan continued. “They were adamant that Grayson would want us to do so. As difficult as it will be, we want to respect their wishes.”
How did Grayson Murray die?
The American withdrew late in his second round at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday citing an illness.
On Sunday, Murray’s parents Eric and Terry released a statement via the PGA Tour announcing their son had died by suicide on Saturday.

Mr Monahan said he had spoken to Murray’s parents to offer his condolences and they asked that the tournament continue, saying that they were “adamant that Grayson would want us to do so” before adding that “as difficult as it will be, we want to respect their wishes.”
Murray’s management company, GSE Worldwide, said in a statement: “Our heart aches for his family, his friends and all who loved him during this very difficult time.”
