Los Angeles Angels star, Shohei Ohtani, has suffered a UCL tear that will see him miss the rest of the season.

The LA ace, who is the Angels’ two-way superstar, has suffered a tear in his elbow ligament that will see him sit on the sidelines for the rest of the campaign, it has been revealed by his manager, Perry Minasian. It is not yet known whether or not Ohtani, 29, will need surgery to fix the issue or if it will heal naturally.

“If I was to bet on anybody bouncing back, he would be the guy”, said Minasian, “a tough day for him, tough day for all of us... I think he needs time to wrap his head around it, talk to the people close to him. We’re in the process of getting second opinions. Once the information is there, he’ll make the right decision on what he wants to do, and we’ll support him, whatever he decides. ... I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in New York and he’s in the lineup. I know how bad he wants to play.”

The player was set to receive the most lucrative contract offers in baseball history after six historic seasons with the Angels, but that offer is now in jeopardy given his health issues.

Ohtani left the mound in the middle of an at-bat during the second inning against Cincinnati Reds due to fatigue in his arm and now the reason behind his withdrawal is known.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated...
