The Guadalajara-born boxer returns to Las Vegas this week to defend his WBC, WBO, and WBA titles against Edgar Berlanga.

Slowly but surely, Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez has made his way up the pecking order of Mexico’s boxing hierarchy, and now he is regarded as one of the top fighters in the world, who everyone wants to face. This month, the Guadalajara native will be seeking to continue enhancing his profile when he faces Edgar Berlanga.

Álvarez will defend his WBC, WBO, and WBA titles against the rising star from Brooklyn on Saturday night, September 14, at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

During his professional career, Canelo has built up an impressive record of 61 wins - 39 of them by knockout, as well as two draws and two losses.

Which fights did Canelo Álvarez lose?

The 34-year-old has only lost two fights in his professional boxing career. The first was against undefeated Floyd Mayweather and he lost the WBC and The Ring super welterweight titles when he was just 19 years old. The other defeat was at the hands of Russian Dmitry Bivol, who took the WBA light heavyweight title from him.

It is worth mentioning that the native of the state of Jalisco has been champion in four different categories, which are super welterweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight.

In the super welterweight category, he was champion of the WBA, WBC and WBO, and in the middleweight category of the WBA, WBC and IBF.
