Thursday and Friday saw some impressive golf played at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Patrick Cantlay finished Friday with a commanding 5-shot lead at 13-under par. Unfortunately, the big news in LA was that Tiger Woods had to withdraw due to illness.

What are the cut line rules at the Genesis Invitational?

There are two factors to consider to see who will play on Saturday:

The first thing to consider is that the top 50 players and ties will move on to the weekend.

The second factor to keep in mind is that everyone who is within 10 shots of the lead will also make the cut.

So, yes, in theory all 70 players could make the cut if they’re within 10 shots of the leader after play finishes on Friday. At the moment that’s not the case and some big names are on or below the cut line.

What happened to Tiger Woods, why did he withdraw?

Tiger Woods had to withdraw from the tournament on hole No. 7. As reported below he seems to have had some sort of stomach bug with flu-like symptoms.

What’s the cut line at the Genesis Invitational?

The final cut line is at 1-over par (+1), which means 18 golfers will not be playing this weekend in LA
