What’s UFC star Pereira’s next challenge?
In less than three years, ‘Poatan’ has become one of the best fighters in UFC history. His work in 2024 is not yet finished.
‘Poatan’ has entered the MMA all-time greats discussion in just three years in the elite based on the knockouts that have made him last decade’s most legendary puncher. After his second win over Jiri Prochazka, he has fought nine times in the UFC, with a record of 8-1. He has been in five title fights and faced UFC champions or former champions in seven.
Pereira shocked the world after a new demonstration of power and elite striking level. After taking the fight with Prochazka on just two weeks’ notice, the Brazilian crossed half the world to return to the cage for the third time in just seven and a half months. That translates into an average of one fight every 75 days, turning his career into one of the most meteoric regarding the rising of great champions.
But Pereira wants more. It took him just a couple of days to return to work. On Monday, the light heavyweight champion was seen in the gym and showed it on social media. Furthermore, his team has confirmed the Brazilian wants to fight again this year and will 100% do so.
Alex Pereira’s next challenge in the UFC
Alex Pereira is cleaning up the light heavyweight division with knockouts. Although he hasn’t fought Magomed Ankalaev, he has defeated the rest of the title contenders. His strength added to his impressive physique, makes fans think about a potential triple Championship if he moves up to heavyweight.
After going from middleweight to light heavyweight because of his size and his weight cut becoming harder, jumping to the heaviest category is one of Pereira’s goals, as he wants to make more history and become the first three-weight champion in UFC history.
Fights against Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall would make MMA fans go crazy and put ‘Poatan’ in one of the highest positions among the all-time best.
