Where is WWE WrestleMania 40 going to be held?

World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the host city for WrestleMania 40, which is scheduled to take place in April 2024.

WWE’s flagship event is to return to Philadelphia, 25 years after it was last held in the Pennsylvania city. On Wednesday, it was announced that WrestleMania 40 will be staged at the iconic Lincoln Financial Field on 6 and 7 April 2024.

The news was first reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, before being confirmed by World Wrestling Entertainment. Before 2024, WrestleMania will first go to the innovative SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, in April 2023.

“In addition to WrestleMania, other events will include Friday Night SmackDown, the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony and Monday Night Raw at Wells Fargo Center as well as other fan events at the Pennsylvania Convention Center,” a WWE statement said.

Philadelphia mayor welcomes WrestleMania news

“We are proud to welcome WWE fans from around the world to Philadelphia to be a part of the historic 40th WrestleMania in 2024,” Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said.

“The week-long series of events will help put a global spotlight on our great city while also generating a major impact for our local economy.”

Philadelphia last hosted WrestleMania in March 1999.

WrestleMania a money-spinner for US cities

WrestleMania is among the most lucrative sporting events in the United States. According to WWE, it has generated a cumulative economic impact of more than $1bn for its host cities over the last 12 years.

In April, WrestleMania 38, which took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, was worth $206.5m in revenue to the Dallas/Arlington area, WWE revealed.
