Update:

The White House looks set to host a sporting event for the first time, following another round of talks between the Trump administration and UFC chief Dana White.

Earlier this year President Donald Trump announced that he was considering proposals to host a UFC fight at the White House as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026.

This week White met with White House officials again and sounded optimism about the prospect of a UFC fight at the presidential residence.

“We had the meeting at the White House. It could not have gone better,” White wrote on social media. “This is going to be awesome. The White House fight is on. I’ll have more details on that in the next couple of weeks, but we got it done today.”

But while there is certainly a good deal of institutional buy-in from the Trump administration, there are major logistical issues with the proposal. Trump has previously claimed that the White House could house up to 25,000 spectators for a UFC event on the South Lawn, a very ambitious figure given the tight security required.

White also admitted that the weight of the staging could be an issue, explaining: “The difference with the White House is I don’t think they’ve ever had anything very heavy out on the lawn, and the Octagon alone weighs 20,000 pounds.”

No confirmed details have yet been made public but there is a sense that the UFC could really be coming to the White House next year. Dana White has a close relationship with Trump, having publicly supported his 2024 run for the White House. The UFC has already held multiple events at Trump’s properties around the world and the next could be coming to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
