Who is Demetrius Andrade? Height, weight, career record, stats and KOs
Demetrius Andrade aims to derail David Benavidez’s plans in their upcoming bout in Las Vegas on November 25.
David Benavidez is determined to prove he is ready to face Canelo Álvarez.
However, his next opponent, Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade, also dreams of having the opportunity to fight the Mexican boxer and unified super middleweight champion. Andrade is undefeated and has won several world titles across two weight categories.
He was born in Rhode Island on February 26, 1988, and has held the WBO middleweight championship title since 2018 after defeating Walter Kautondokwa, a native of Namibia.
Left out on the shore
Andrade had a successful career in amateur boxing. The Cape Verdean also started as one of the great favorites to win a medal in the welterweight category, especially after winning the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Rio 2007.
He defeated Keith Thurman to earn the honor of representing the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He managed to win his first two fights and seemed to be on his way to winning that long-awaited medal, but he was surprised by the South Korean Kim Jung Joo in a controversial loss.
