Who is playing in the Laver Cup 2023? World and Europe teams, players, and captains
The US Open recently ended but fans will be able to enjoy tennis at its finest with the Laver Cup, which takes place in Vancouver.
The tennis calendar is coming to a close, but there’s still a lot of tennis to be played. And top-quality tennis. The sixth edition of the Laver Cup is about to take place in Vancouver, Canada, with Team Europe and Team World ready to collide once again for three days.
The best players in the ATP Tour will gather together from 22-24 September in a thrilling event, despite the absence of some ‘heavyweights’ of the sport.
Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Rafa Nadal (injury), and Roger Federer (retirement) won’t feature in this year’s event, but the attendants will be able to see in action other top players in a competition that this year is seen as a very close one.
Who will be playing in the Laver Cup 2023?
Each day three singles matches and one doubles match will be played. They will be to the best of three sets with the last being played with a 10-point tie-break match format.
It’s quite an unpredictable event. Besides the quality of both Team Europe’s and Team World’s players, the scoring system makes the competition even more open. Friday’s victory will be worth one point, Saturday’s two points, and Sunday’s three points.
Team Europe, which won the first four consecutive events, will feature Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Hubert Hurkacz, Gael Monfils, Arthur Fils (alternate), Björn Borg (captain), Thomas Enqvist (vice-captain).
Meanwhile, Team World will be looking to defend their title in 2022. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Francisco Cerúndolo, Ben Shelton, Christopher Eubanks (alternate), Milos Raonic (alternate), John McEnroe (captain) and Patrick McEnroe (vice-captain) will try to win their second title.
