The eighth edition of the Laver Cup gets underway in San Francisco today, Friday, September 19, with Team Europe looking to claim the trophy for a sixth time. World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz leads the holders, while the USA’s Taylor Fritz is the highest-ranked player for Team World, which features three Americans and is captained by tennis legend Andre Agassi.
Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, and Frances Tiafoe had originally been slated to compete but withdrew, making way for fellow Americans Alex Michelsen and Reilly Opelka, along with Alex de Minaur of Australia.

Saturday follows the same format as Friday, but each match carries two points.
Sunday, September 21, starts with one doubles match. If necessary, up to three singles matches can follow. Each Sunday match is worth three points.
Laver Cup tiebreaker and lineups
If the teams are tied at 12 points each, a decisive doubles match will determine the Laver Cup winner.
Saturday’s lineup will be announced one hour after Friday’s matches conclude, with Sunday’s schedule revealed after Saturday’s play.
